Workshop Research on Shared Reading
On May 21st and 22nd of 2026 we were very happy to host the “Research on Shared Reading” workshop at the Digital Humanities Lab in Basel. This workshop was part of a series of workshops co-hosted with Merel van Gogh of the Radboud University in Nijmegen, and Agnes Andeweg & Laurie Bastemeijer of Utrecht University. Our PhD students Tina Ternes, Antonia Vogler and Laurie Bastemeijer presented their current research, and Jane Lugea gave us insight into Shared Reading as an arts-based practice.
Workshop: Ethnographic and Participatory Research Approaches to Investigate Social Reading Practices
On November 9th and 10th of 2023 we were very happy to host the "Ethnographic and Participatory Research Approaches to Investigate Social Reading Practices workshop at the Digital Humanities Lab in Basel. Our two wonderful speakers DeNel Rehberg Sedo and Danielle Fuller took us on a two-day trip through various ethnographic techniques they have applied in their research on various social reading practices, such as book clubs, mass reading events and bookstagram. We even got to practice some of these techniques in a live Shared Reading session facilitated by our amazing collaborators from Sharing Stories Verein, Alexandra Stäheli and Beatrice Bürki.
